This talk consists of two parts. The first one introduces Shimura's result on endomorphism algebras of abelian varieties. The second part discusses the problem when an order of the endomorphism End^0(A) can realised in its isogeny class. This talk is based on joint work with A. Tamagawa and V. Karemaker.
